The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting its second educational session on business emergency preparedness. Focusing on the coordinated work of the City of Charlottesville, County of Albemarle and the University of Virginia, the workshop, notes the Chamber, offers an opportunity to learn what businesses of any size need to do (and the role they need to assume) in order to help ensure a well-planned and unified response to a regional disaster or emergency.

Speakers at the session include:

Marge Thomas, Emergency Management Coordinator for UVA, City & County
Marge Sidebottom, UVA Emergency Preparedness Director
Charles Werner, Fire Chief, Charlottesville VA Fire Department
Jason Nauman, Captain, Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue
Wayne Napier, Underwriter for State Farm
Rhonda Edmunds, Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission

The program is scheduled for Tuesday, October 16, 1:00 PM at the Comfort Inn Monticello. For more information and to register you can visit cvillechamber.com.

Timothy Hulbert, Chamber president, noted the following regarding business emergency preparedness and the Chamber’s role in supporting such educational initiatives, “The Chamber is going to keep beating the drum to help businesses get and stay prepared for an emergency. Fire, Storm, Hurricane, Tornado, Break-in, Burglary, Influenza, Attack – we’re going to keep asking: Is Your Business Prepared to safeguard its employees, its customers, its data, its records, its equipment, our families and our community to stay in business?”
