An article in American Machinist magazine, June 28, noted GE Fanuc Automation’s recent celebration honoring the 20th anniversary of the joint venture between General Electric and Fanuc Ltd. of Japan. GE Fanuc Automation is headquartered in Charlottesville, VA.

The joint venture announced – as part of its commemoration – that it was providing donations to the University of Virginia’s Engineering and Applied Sciences Department [eight PACSystems RX3i Training Systems to the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department to help in the education of engineering students – valued at $80,000], and to the local United Way–Thomas Jefferson Area [$20,000 for the creation of a program titled “Virtual Academy of Science and Technology” that is designed to connect youth who are interested in math and science with online mentors from local businesses and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville].
