[...] One year ago the former Virginia Piedmont Technology Council (VPTC) combined with the former Charlottesville Venture Group (CVG) to form the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council (CBIC), their mission to be “the preeminent private-sector advocate and catalyst for entrepreneurship and technology-based economic development in our region.” I believe the year has seen a number of event successes for the CBIC, not the least of which, their annual Innovation Awards Dinner. But the “slowing economy” has had its affect on area business associations, and as of today, what I had dared to suggest last year, has come to pass, The Charlottesville Business Innovation Council (CBIC) and the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce (CRCC) today announced that their respective organizations have signed an agreement to jointly support the entrepreneurial and high-tech business community in an innovative affiliation.
These awards to our much underpaid and appreciated teachers are wonderful token of appreciation. However, why are they limited only to Charlottesville and Albemarle? There are many teachers living in this area who do a magnificent job of teaching in other areas of Metropolitan Charlottesville such as the fast developing Greene County. These teachers are virtually unrewarded for their efforts. Can something of a similar nature not be done for them.
Sincerely,
Maurice
